この工具をホームページで確認すると、テーパードローラーベアリングでも一応Harley-Davidson純正部品番号48300-60向けだそうです。#48300-60は2000年以降のソフテイルと2002年以降の全VRSC向けですが、実際は殆どのHarley-Davidsonのステアリングステム ベアリングに使えるそうです。
本当はこちらを買いたかったけどそこまで豊富な工具は必要ないかなと。対象となるパーツにさえ合致していて、精度が高くしっかりとした作りであれば、あとはいればヨシとしましょう。
工具の使い方は外箱に書かれているだけで取扱説明書は添付されていません。Motion Proのホームページにも#08-0558の取扱説明書は無いので書き出すついでに翻訳しました。
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Remove outer cage of the old bearing using cutters as shown in the photo. A screwdriver can also be used to remove the old bearing.
2. Place protector cup on top of the steering stem to protect the threads from damage or insert the protector into the Serring Stem Tool body making sure it's laying flat.
3. Slide bearing puller tube over steering stem to base of steering stem.
4. Tighten setscrews evenly and lightly under top lip of bearing race. Do not tighten setscrews more than finger tight or race will bind against stem.
5. Use a cresent wrench or 15/16in. wrench to hold of body and ratchet with 15/16in. socket to tighten the puller bolt to remove the old bearing.
6. Clean the base and steering stem making sure it is clear of any dirt, grim or debris and slide the dust cover and new bearing onto the stem.
7. Insert the adapter into the Steering Stem Tool body and tighten setscrews evenly and lightly.
8. Remove the drive bolt and use a soft mallet to drive the new bearing into place. It's not a bad idea to use a block of wood under the triple clamp to support the bottom and protect it from damage. Make sure that the bearing is fully seated onto the stem and grease the bearing with high quality waterproof grease.
使い方
1. 外箱に印刷した写真のように古いベアリングのシートメタルケージ(ベアリングの外側)をカッターを使って取り外しておきます。古いベアリングを外す為にドライバーを用意します。(写真1参照)
2. プロテクターカップをステアリングステムの上に置きます。これはキズ防止とチューブの中に入れるプロテクターカップをしっかり水平にする為です。(写真2参照)
3. チューブをステムの根本まで挿します。(写真3参照)
4. ベアリングレースの上フチより下で3つの止めネジを均等に軽く締めます。止めネジはレースがステムに結合するか指締めよりも固く締めないで下さい。(写真4参照)
5. モンキーレンチか15/16インチのレンチを使ってチューブを固定し、15/16インチのラチェットレンチを使ってプーラーを締めると古いベアリングは外れます。(写真5参照)
6. ベアリングを外した後にテアリングステムを清掃します。ステムに小さな泥やゴミが無いようしっかり清掃し、ダストカバーと新しいベアリングをステムに入れます。(写真6参照)
7. アダプターをチューブの中に入れて、止めネジを均等に軽く締めます。(写真7参照)
8. ドライブボルトを外し、新しいベアリングを打ち込むには柔らかいハンマーを使います。キズ防止や支えとして木片をトリプルツリーの下に入れるのはまあまあのアイディアです。ハンマーで打ち込んだ後はベアリングが完全にステムに装着されていることを確認し、ベアリングに高品質な防水グリースを塗布します。(写真8参照)
翻訳は大体こんな感じでしょうか。素人翻訳なので誤訳があってもご容赦下さい。ポイントは新しいベアリングを打ち込む際、打ち込み過ぎてベアリングを変形させないようにする事だと思います。
最後に購入価格です。いつものように価格調査したところ、ハーレーパーツ専門店 アンバーピースが最もお手頃価格でした。 US標準小売価格は49.99USDです。日本で買うとやっぱり若干高めですね。
